5/11/2010

Pennoni Associates is pleased to announce that Senior Environmental Scientist R. Alan Lloyd, CIH, recently passed the exam to become a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).  For the past two years, Mr. Lloyd has studied and taken continuing education classes in preparation for the exam.  Mr. Lloyd is participating in the development of the American Society of Safety Engineer’s (ASSE) first local section in Delaware, and earning this certification will enhance Lloyd’s involvement on Pennoni’s Health and Safety Committee.

“We are happy to know that Alan’s hard work has resulted in this significant accomplishment,” said Kevin J. Davis, P.E., a Pennoni Vice President and Principal in Charge of Environmental Services. “We predict this will allow us to better serve our existing and new clients as well as the firm through his role as Chairman of the Health and Safety Committee.”

Certified Safety Professionals specialize in protecting workers, the public, property and the environment by indentifying, evaluating, and controlling hazards. The CSP directs safety programs at a corporate level to reduce risk and loss. “Becoming a CSP elevates a safety professional to the top of his or her field,” said Steven Schoolcraft, Examination Director for BCSP.

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals, governed by 13 directors with seven membership organizations, establishes standards for and verifies minimum competency in professional safety practice. BCSP also evaluates CSPs for compliance with re-certification requirements. Since 1969, almost 20,000 individuals have achieved the Certified Safety Professional certification. Currently, more than 11,000 hold people the CSP. More information about BCSP, the CSP and professional safety practice is available at www.bcsp.org.
