Diamond Certificate Award - Citizens Bank Park
American Council of Engineering Companies Pennsylvania Chapter (ACEC/PA) - 2005

Pennoni Associates has received the 2005 Diamond Certificate Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies Pennsylvania Chapter (ACEC/PA) for the consulting engineering services provided for Citizens Bank Park, the new home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The ACEC/PA Diamond Awards recognize the contributions of Pennsylvania consulting engineering firms for enhancing the social and economic welfare of the Commonwealth and its citizens.

The Phillies had a vision for their new ballpark; they envisioned a fan-friendly facility with clear views of the field and the city skyline that would be accessible for all fans, as well as an open street-level concourse. Pennoni Associates was responsible for designing a water drainage collection and conveyance system that would allow the Phillies to construct the field of their new ballpark 23 feet below street level, which places it 10 feet below the water table of the site. Pennoni’s design enabled the fundamental design goals of Citizens Bank Park to be realized.

It has been praised by the Environmental Protection Agency for its forward-looking, environmentally sensitive and responsible systems and design. Created to harmonize with the Museum’s hillside contours, the facility is located on the Museum’s west side, facing Kelly Drive.

The Commonwealth Awards help 10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania put smart design and smart growth in the spotlight. Education

When it comes to education, the campus fabric of green spaces, roads, parking, and walkways surrounding the buildings becomes the first and last impression of the institution for students, faculty, staff and visitors.  Good campus design through Landscape Architecture can enhance the image of a campus, improve vehicular and pedestrian circulation, and create a place of distinguished character.

Pennoni Associates interactively collaborates with representative members of the education institution; administration, faculty, staff and/or students as appropriate to develop and document an understanding of project goals.  A successful plan requires interaction and the confirmation of goals throughout the design process.  Our design expertise includes campus roads, gateways, parking, green space, landscape, walkways, plazas, athletic fields, play areas and selection of standard site amenities.  Our campus services include master planning, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction documents and construction observation.

Depending on the campus, Pennoni’s project design teams can consist of landscape architects supported with engineers and/or land planners whose combined knowledge and creativity leads to successful design solutions.  Pennoni’s design approach to campus projects is to analyze and design in context with the site and to leave a good lasting impression.  The lasting impression becomes a reflection on the education system and reaches far beyond the confines of the campus.

Local Government

The results of municipal engineers' work can be measured by the quality of our everyday life. It is impossible to go through a day of work, recreation, or pleasure without encountering the results of their efforts. Nearly a century ago, there were only two types of engineers: military and civil.  Today, it is hard to imagine what our lives would be like without the municipal engineer.

Pennoni Associates assists more than 100 communities in making decisions about engineering issues involving the maintenance and improvement of public works systems.  Our staff possesses a strong background in technical analysis and is capable of making recommendations on a wide range of everyday municipal needs, including road and stormwater maintenance, traffic safety, signing and signalization, waste management studies, building inspection, parks and recreation, plan and code review, grantsmanship, and regulatory application coordination.

For more than four decades, Pennoni has provided municipal clients with a myriad of services upon which a quality community depends.  As Pennoni has grown, so has the range and depth of our services.  We continue to provide the level of service that communities need to improve and maintain their desired standard of living.
